  29. Oops, that was written before the morning's coffee has soaked in.  Peter's
  30. point is (obviously) that he is using termcap info for the local terminal
  31. (whatever it is) to translate between it and a remote VT100.  The VT100
  32. knowledge is hardcoded, but knowledge about the local terminal is table
  33. driven.

  35. Depending on the capabilities of the local terminal (e.g. scrolling
  36. regions, 80/132-column switching, etc), a serviceable termlib-based vt100
  37. emulator might be possible, to the extent it is useable by EMACS or vi, but
  38. not necessarily by more demanding applications, such as those found on VMS.
